All sound samples were made using the Fatpipe distortion unit. Excerpts were taken from various recordings, made on different recording equipment, using different guitars and amps. Details of the sound clips are listed below:
Peter Gunn: Recorded with an EMG-equipped Strat through a Bassman amp. The amp volume was on 3, with a Shure mic on one of the speakers. For the first half of the solo, the Fatpipe ‘Drive’ control was about 80% of full CW, using the bridge pickup on the Strat. For the second half of the solo, the ‘Drive’ control was reduced to about 30%, and the neck pickup on the guitar was used. All guitar lines in the background were also recorded using the Fatpipe.
Off Broadway: Another EMG-equipped guitar was plugged into the Fatpipe, which was plugged into a Fender Blues Deluxe amp. The signal from the amps’ ‘preamp out’ jack was plugged directly into the board. The amp was set for a very clean sound, with the volume on about 2 ˝. The Fatpipe ‘Drive’ control was set to 80% of max CW, and the EQ controls were set for a darker, warmer sound.
Desert Dog: Recorded live, using a mahogany-bodied guitar with three P-90 pickups, plugged into the Fatpipe, using a Fender Showman amp with one 15” JBL speaker in an open-back cabinet. This setup was mic’ed, and the recording came from a line out of the mixing board. The bridge and middle pickups on the guitar were used, and the Fatpipe ‘Drive’ control was max CW. NOTE: goofy reverb added by over-zealous soundman.
